FAQ about the leasing partner Lease a Bike

What do I need to consider when placing an order?

Lease a Bike is only available to customers with a German residence. Check if the accessories you want are eligible for leasing. You can find an overview of leaseable accessories here. Please also fill out the form diligently so that we have all the information we need to create the offer, especially the offer code.

How does the ordering process work?

Configure your dream bike in our webshop and select Lease a Bike as your payment method. After the order is received, our employees will review the order, and then we will create an offer for you in the Lease a Bike portal.

My employer has set a specific budget, but the configuration of my bike exceeds this. Is it possible to pay part separately or purchase a voucher?

No, unfortunately that is not possible.

How long does it take to receive my offer?

    Typically within 1-2 business days.

What happens after my offer has been created in the Lease a Bike portal?

Once your offer has been confirmed by your employer and Lease a Bike, we will receive the leasing approval from Lease a Bike. We will then send you a confirmation of the leasing approval via email and inform you of the expected shipping date.

Can I make changes after placing the order?

Changes are only possible if they are value-neutral. For changes that would result in a change to the purchase price, you must cancel your current order and place a new one, as we then need to start a new process with Lease a Bike.

What is the duration of the contract?

The duration of the leasing contract is typically 36 months.

What are the benefits of bike leasing for employees?

The main advantage of bike leasing is that it is significantly cheaper for you as an employee to use a company bike than to buy a bicycle or e-bike directly.

Those who ride a company bike instead of a car also benefit from many other advantages, as regular exercise is healthy, cycling is fun, and it is environmentally friendly. Furthermore, company bike riders save on expensive fuel costs, exhausting traffic jams, and nerve-wracking parking searches.

Why do I save money with bike leasing?

A key reason is that company bikes can be financed through salary conversion. Since the leasing rates are paid from the gross salary in the context of salary conversion, the tax burden and social contributions are reduced, resulting in a significantly lower net burden when leasing a company bike compared to the leasing rate. Additionally, the flat-rate taxation of the non-cash benefit for company bikes follows the favorable 0.25% rule. Through these tax incentives, employees can save up to 40 percent on the purchase of a bicycle or e-bike compared to direct purchase with the company bike model.

Is Lease a Bike worth it? How much do I save?

How much you specifically save with bike leasing depends on various factors: gross salary, tax class, and the price of the bicycle or e-bike are three key factors that influence the savings with bike leasing.

You can calculate your individual cost advantage with the leasing calculator for employees to see directly if bike leasing is worthwhile for you.

What does non-cash benefit mean in bike leasing?

In bike leasing, the non-cash benefit is the fact that you can use your company bike also - or even exclusively - for private purposes. This non-cash benefit is assessed at a flat rate of 0.25% of the gross list price and added to the taxable salary of the employee.

Can I choose a discounted bike as my company bike?

Yes, that is possible. The reduced price also lowers the leasing and insurance rates. However, the non-cash benefit - that is, the tax burden for the company bike - is not based on the actual purchase price, but rather on the recommended retail price (RRP). This can affect the overall savings through the leasing model for heavily discounted bikes.

Can I use multiple company bikes?

In principle, an employee can use multiple company bikes. In the specific case, this depends on what your employer has agreed upon in the service contract with the Lease a Bike service.

Can I also use my company bike privately, for example on vacation?

    A clear yes!
